ShuttlePro

Urania’s ShuttlePro pouch handling system was developed to process somewhat troublesome pouches in an economical fashion. The system removes a single pouch from an ill-defined stack and repositions it for a proper pick-up reference. The final pick up is then completed to allow opening and product loading. This system is ideal for pouches that cannot be uniformly stacked such as zipper closure or flat bottom type. These pouches are not uniform in thickness due to the zipper or multiple layers from folds. Pouches fitted with protruding pressure relief valves such as those common in the coffee industry are also compatible to the ShuttlePro system.

Loading

Most of the same product loading techniques outlined in the PouchPro system are applicable to the ShuttlePro system.

Contents Settling

The most common products loaded by the ShuttlePro system have been powder or bulk items in both the food and medical/diagnostic industries. These components may require settling to allow headspace for sealing.

Content settling is accomplished by vibration applied to the conveyor while the loaded pouch is proceeding on the conveyor toward the sealing station. For more aggressive settling, the pouch may be stopped on the conveyor for additional vibration time. The settling time is a programmable feature. The frequency and amplitude of vibration are mechanical adjustments.
